Meet Rex….yes, that’s his real name. He even informed me that ‘Rex’ means King! lol  Ever since he was a little boy, he LOVED the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Balloon ‘The Happy Dragon.”  I’m not quite sure how it happened, but the Macy’s Parade Committee decided to name the balloon after him this year, so if you watch the Parade on Turkey Day,  you’ll hopefully be able to see him & his alter-ego.  By looking at that huge smile on his face, I’m thinking he’s even happier than ‘Rex, The Happy Dragon” who dwells in his Kingdom.

The Dragon is back! Dating back to the very first dragon design created for the first Macy’s Parade that featured balloons in 1927, the Dragon has seen many incarnations over the procession’s history. The latest version, Rex the Happy Dragon, makes his debut this year with a 25-foot grin that spreads joy from scale-to-scale.  That’s the 60’s version of ‘The Happy Dragon’ balloon in the video below.
